In EndNote, you can directly view the impact factors (JIF or JCI) for journals cited in your library when using the Journal Cited Reports plug-in, which integrates data from Clarivate's Journal Citation Reports (JCR). This allows you to see current and historical journal metrics alongside your references. Viewing these metrics requires an active subscription to Web of Science Core Collection and the EndNote add-on module Journal Cited Reports. Impact factors are typically displayed within individual reference records in the reference panel, often in a dedicated field, and are updated annually shortly after JCR release. This functionality is available in EndNote version 20 and later desktop versions (Windows and macOS), provided the plug-in is correctly installed and configured using your institutional or personal subscription credentials. Hovering over journal names might also display the current JIF in some views. To utilize this feature, ensure the plug-in is installed and the appropriate JCR access is configured in EndNote preferences under the 'Journal Cited Reports' settings. Within your EndNote library, open the References panel to view specific reference details; locate the impact factor field within an individual reference record. This tool is valuable for researchers evaluating journal prestige during literature reviews or manuscript preparation, aiding in citation analysis and publication strategy within EndNote, thereby enhancing research efficiency.
