Analyzing literature citation counts through Mendeley requires using the Mendeley Reference Manager desktop application, not the web version. This feature tracks how frequently your publications are cited within the library of articles you have curated and stored in your Mendeley library. For accurate citation counts, publications must be correctly added to your Mendeley library with accurate bibliographic details, especially the citation key (like DOI). Mendeley indexes citations only among the papers *within* your personal library; it does not scan the entire web or major global citation databases like Web of Science or Scopus. Therefore, the count reflects citations *only* from other papers you have in your library, making coverage highly dependent on your specific collection. Ensure your library is fully synced. To access citation counts, open the desktop app and select "My Publications" in the left sidebar. Your articles will be listed. The "Cited By" column displays the number of times each publication is cited by other papers within your Mendeley library. Clicking the number reveals the citing articles. This internal analysis helps understand influence within your specific research collection but should not be mistaken for a comprehensive citation measure.
